With the implementation of photovoltaic systems in 2012, LPR achieved significant energy savings for its plants through the use of renewable energy.
The use of this technology stems from the need to combine:
- compatibility with architectural and environmental protection requirements;
- no noise pollution;
- fossil fuel savings;
- production of electricity without emission of pollutants. To date, electricity production still relies on fossil sources, such as coal, oil and natural gas.
Considering an annual production of 6444 MWh among all plants, 8245 barrels of oil equivalent and atmospheric emissions of 3604 tons of CO2 are saved every year, also allowing LPR to be 65% self-sufficient.
